SISAL

Sisal rugs/wall to wall are woven from natural plant fibers. It has properties of durability and resilence that many artificial materials cannot provide. Sisal is strong and can be a long lasting addition to a living room, bedroom, office or hallways. Sisal fibers originate in a cactus plant called Agave Sisalana that grows in Africa & Brazil. It has long been farmed by people to make it into rope & twine. Sisal is natural stain resistant, resists static electricity, durable & won't compress.

Sisal rugs are not designed to be used in high humidity or wet areas such as bathrooms & kitchens. Since sisal is organic, it can develop water stains.

Clean sisal by blotting the rug with a dry cloth, making sure not to rube the liquid into the fiber. If a staining liquid such as juice is spilled, clean witha mild soap and water solution or half vinegar, half water solution. Dip a cloth in the solution, blot the rug and blot dry. You may need to repeat this, but remember to use a small amouth of water.

Dry materials can be scraped off with a blunt edge, such as a wooden knife. Vacuum a sisal rug regularly to take up accumulated dirt. If you clean a sisal with a vacuum on a frequent basis, you will also help prolong the life of the rug.
